Pakistan record 9-wkt win over Sri Lanka

DUBAI: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by nine wickets with a day to spare in the second Test here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing an easy target of 94 runs in a possible 24 overs, Pakistan completed their victory before the end of the penultimate day to take a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series.

Opener Mohammad Hafeez remained unbeaten on 59 and Azhar Ali was 29 not out.

RA One fails to break Bodyguards opening day record
MUMBAI: Shahrukh Khan’s Ra One failed to break the opening day box office record of Salman Khan’s Bodyguard.

Ra One which had the largest release of any Bollywood movie was received well but failed to overtake the record set by Bodyguard.

The movies lead Shahrukh Khan whose rivalry with Salman Khan has been well publicised hoped that his upcoming movie Don 2 will be able to break the record set by Bodyguard. 

Azhar's maiden hundred stretches Pakistan lead


AzharDUBAI: Talented Azhar Ali finally got a maiden Test century as Pakistan piled pressure on Sri Lanka on the second day of the second Test at Dubai cricket Stadium here on Thursday.
A three-figure score had eluded the 26-year-old right-hander in the last 14 Tests but he finally reached the mark in the closing stages to guide Pakistan to a dominating 281-4, gaining a lead of 42 over Sri Lankan first innings of 239.
Azhar, the only bright spot from last year's fixing-marred tour of England, put on a 94-run stand for the fourth wicket with skipper Misbah-ul Haq (40 not out) and 117 for the third wicket with Younis Khan (55) to lift his team.

Ra-One Releasing 2morow

Shah Rukh Khan's most ambitious film to date RA.One slated for a October 26 release is to have two versions-2-D and 3-D.
However a week before the release there is a strong buzz that the 2-D version will release on the day of Lakshmi Puja(October 26) as planned and the 3-D version may be deferred by a week and may make it to the theatres on November 2 SRK's birthday.It is said that the 3-D work is being done on a war footing but just in case the producers are unable to meet the deadline, then the 2-D version will be released on October 26 and the 3-D version will have a deferred release.

Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56.
The visionary genius who masterminded Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes passed away yesterday surrounded by family members.
A statement by Apple's board of directors read;
"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today, Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

Pakistan dismisses SL for 197 in first Test

ABU DHABI: Pakistan dismissed Sri Lanka for 197 on the opening day of the first Test with left-arm paceman Junaid Khan taking a maiden five-wicket haul at Abu Dhabi stadium here on Tuesday.

Sent into bat, Sri Lanka lost six wickets in the second session before Angelo Mathews chipped in with a fighting 52 not out. Khan finished with 5-38.
